An Ugly Piece of Writing

Rewritten 17th September 2022 from original 12th June 1996 while travelling.

I want to fly, I want to tear and rip,
stand legs astride, fists clenched,
eyes bright, and mind clear,
in control of myself (and the world).

I want to exude energy, I want to
stand above, and I want recognition.

Ugly to me, I fear it also,
fear that this hot song will lead me astray,
astray from the knowing of reality,
which is after all,
…all that matters.
