I have loved the colours and geometry in containers ever since seeing Jeffrey Smart's Container Train in Landscape (1983-1984), hung in the Melbourne Arts Centre in the late eighties. Transformative! The same for all the functional infrastructure we live among, strong lines, strong colours talking to us...

These photos were a day out exploring the container terminals and tank farms of Coode Island.

Maybe not as original as they could be given they are a common subject I think for artists, but I enjoyed being with them, exploring their form and presence in the urban landscape.

I will develop this project more one day, show more of the context against the residential pockets next to which they sit perhaps, links with the rest of the city, the airspace over etc...
