Machu Picchu,
Peru...

...Machu Picchu is enough of a spectacle, has enough mystery and intrigue, to keep you in awe of it, on its own, for hours.  We overheard bits of different tour guides explanations, but the real beauty was in just sitting.

After three hours of sunshine, of roaming clouds, and of mountains, and of imaginings, we made our way down into the ruins.

And then, after that moment, finally, four days on from starting the walk, we were down again away from the Inca trails, to the trains and the towns of the valley below.  On looking back up, all signs of the ruins had disappeared. It was as quick as that,  lost cities and empires of Kings, gone, replaced by car noises and markets and reality....
